Summary of article: Basically Tom Johnson is in San Salvador and all of a sudden he sees a doughnut shop full of people, as if it was buy one Starbucks coffee, get one free kinda deal... He then realizes that doughnut shops are very common in El Salvador and he is amused by this. Probably not as amused as I am at this moment writing this Cultural Journal. As well as pupusas being popular in El Salvador, so are doughnuts. My sister is Salvadorian and she isn't very fond of doughnuts. I'll tell her to ask her dad, maybe he loves doughnuts. How the event or practice in this article is important to culture in this country: Salvadorians love doughnuts. It is really that simple, I never would have imagined it... To be in Latin America, i did not even know that they knew what doughnuts are. i know about Guatemala, not El Salvador.
